Pretty, I guess, and certainly to be expected from a romantic such as himself. All the same, they do seem like somewhat irritating things to have in one's garden, and I'm sure they'd attract moths.
Glow-in-the-dark intoxicating roses. So I guess they draw moths and winos.
I had to laugh a little at the idea that old workaholic, depressed Fëanor, prince in exile, famously dour of temper when Elves who are not related to him (and many that are) come around, has to throw at least six of these bashes every year, more if he's including the daughters-in-law and the grandkid.
*snerk* Yes, I can't see him being keen on this idea. He misses most of their begetting days, though; this is the first he's had in a while, and I'm 90% sure that he only did it to try to manipulate his wife in coming into exile with him. I don't know for sure, but knowing Feanaro....
You imply that Nerdanel was not too thrilled at Telvo's choice of mate. I wonder if that might be part of the reason that she ended up leaving.
I really don't know how she feels about it. Strange as that may sound. But the only person to really talk about her feelings about her youngest's sexual orientation (and choice in mates) is Feanor, and I don't exactly trust him. I think he's got the kids convinced, though, or at least Telvo. Sneaky, manipulative guy, that Feanor.
I can't really see Nerdanel as being displeased. I can see Feanor sending her an announcement two days before the wedding, then saying all wide-eyed and innocent to Telvo, "Look, your own mother didn't send you a gift! How awful!" and then playing the role of the loving father/victim with great aplomb.
And I think that Nerdanel has more to do with her sons than Feanor knows, she just doesn't involve him. I don't blame her.
