I love watching those doves. Drives my cats nuts - Pepper finally got fed up and pounced...into the windowpane. *snicker*

I haven't seen any snakes around, so I am hoping it wasn't a snake. Especially not a poisonous one, since I'm sure a snake would be very interesting to my puppy. Not sure if a snake could climb the bush to the nest, since the branches are pretty flimsy, but snakes are disturbingly talented. Maybe I should check the skimmer boxes to see if there are any hapless snakes there.

I think that maybe the cardinals were also new parents, because mom bird was away from the nest a lot. I hope we didn't screw her up though, because we trimmed the bush the nest was in, having no idea it was there until *snip*! There it is! So we stopped trimming and tried to steer clear (not so easy since the bush is pretty close to our back door). I was looking forward to baby cardinals though, since they're such pretty birds...
