I hope you still want these, I'm trying to catch up!
The image of them crowded at the end of a vast table is so cute and in a way, partly defines them. A family who were never all that comfortable with greatness, but were just that anyway and had to learn how to deal with it.
The 'thanksgiving' was nicely done, but perhaps a bit long. I caught myself skimming here.
The little tale about the pea stuck up Carnistir's nose had me laughing aloud! Something like that could only happen to that family! Wonderful!
Oh, Carnistir is wonderful! What an adorable little trouble maker! I feel almost sorry for him getting yelled at!
Interesting concept of Nerdanel 'blurring' over the years. I'm not sure I entirely understand. Is this blurring just Celegorm's perception as he grows or an actual change in Nerdanel?
I do love seeing the caring side of Fëanor. He seems to be an excellent father, for all his faults!
//“Yes.” I swallow, make my voice brave. “I do.” I meet his eyes and know that I will never exceed him. I will try—oh, I will try—but never will I exceed him.// I think this is very much Celegorm. Someone willing to do anything to be the best, but always one step away from his goal.
Also his early desire to hate those who took something loved from him is a characteristic that stayed with him all his life - not necessarily for the best!
As for his fear of being alone, maybe that was why he was so often with Curufin in his adult life!
Extremely belated review for chapter three!
