Oh no worries, anything I write on this particular debate will be so tongue-in-cheek to be barely recognizable as serious. I don't have an opinion either way and have always found this particular debate (and the similar fanon built up around Nerdanel, and the same debate about Legolas ...) to be hilarious in the fervor with which people approach it.
