Hi Dawn. :) When I was a little kid everything seemed so simple. I asked someone once why we worshipped something we couldn't see when I believed we should worship mankind and try to help people in need.
I also wondered why there were so many 'gods', representing so many different religions. If there was only one god, would he not care about everyone? I couldn't understand that he would favour those from only one faith over others, excluding people because they were considered 'heathen' by other people.
I also came to believe that since every single religion was invented by some man, then perhaps I could create my own religion. My desire was to take the best aspects of each and every religion in existence and combine them into one religion whose main agenda was to include everyone and eliminate exclusivity.
Then I grew up and things became much more complicated. There was so much to learn and understand about the history of religion.
And now that I am 'old' I can see that perhaps things really are simple after all, but people don't want simplicity and keep muddying everything, especially religion and basic principles of humanity until we are in a mess too huge to extricate ourselves from.
Godless heathen... What comes to my mind when I hear this is that most people are just not capable of understanding anything. And that makes me sad.
