Things to Do! (So It Only Makes Sense to Write in my LJ....)

The last week or so has been really nice. I'm productive again, getting things done, but not overwhelmed to the point where I am neglecting things that should be getting done but can't possibly fit into my schedule.

  • Beta work!!! Actually, last week, I finished a story and a packet of stuff from Antithesis Common, so I don't feel so overwhelmingly behind. The authors for whom I beta are such wonderfully patient people. Alina, you're next! Your story is sitting in my data deposit box, just waiting, probably to be begun as soon as I finish the LJ entry.

  • Finish latest D&D Adventure. Actaully, I started on this last night. It was hard in a weird way: When my sister called me with the news about my grandmother, I was working on this adventure. In the past few weeks, I have known that I need to work on it, yet have not been able to, as though continuing the story in absence of my grandmother is some form of acceptance. I don't expect this to make sense.

Incidentally, since I've decided to make some major changes to the adventure, parts of what already existed prior to learning about Nanny were also changed. Which somehow makes me feel better, as though when I read it, I will not be thinking, "And here's where everything changes...."

  • Finish [livejournal.com profile] isil_elensar's birthday story! Yes, Isil, I have written about four pages of your birthday story, as the Legolas muse I acquired finally managed to wriggle free of the chains that my Feanor muse put him in. While I'm at it, I need to check which of you all have upcoming birthdays deserving of stories! If you haven't given me your birthday and want a story, now's a good time to let me know. ;)

  • Stop neglecting Nelyo's. Yes, I've been bad and haven't read my books in over a week now.... Top of my list is to acquire some books from Kitchen Krafts that look interesting.

  • Conjure some form of Super Bowl party dessert. In the past, I've made a cake decorated like a football field, but I think that might be too much for this year. I'm thinking an ice cream pie with both team logos on it. Maybe with some wee chocolate footballs along the edge, if I can find a suitable mold before Saturday? Maybe peanut butter or caramel-filled chocolate footballs??

Or maybe just a plain ol' boring ice cream pie.

  • Tag the [livejournal.com profile] silwritersguild LJ. *despises tagging the SWG LJ, but it is a necessary evil neglected since November or so*

  • It might not hurt to write a chapter summary for the Henneth-Annun Silmarillion reading sooner than the day it's due?

  • Acquire some new icons. I have space for 100 and have a whopping 14. Mostly because the conditions under which Bobby bought me space for 100 require that I make an icon that says "Oh Yay Elves Are Cool" and use it on at least one post. How long would it take to make such an icon? Thirty seconds?? So why isn't it done??? ...

And there's two things that I've been chronically neglecting, which is odd, as they are two of the things about which I am most enthusiastic:

  • Revise AMC. Post AMC in places other than LiveJournal. I think that once I get past the depressing mess that is the first few chapters, I will be fine with this. It's just a matter of mustering up the energy for massive revision that involves possibly running with scissors...but it must be done. Why can't stories revise themselves?

  • SWG archive site. I need to get something down for this. A style sheet would be nice. A few HTML pages? I can worry about finding fiction archive codes later, but we should at least have a rudimentary homepage in the meantime. Thing is, I like writing webpages. And this project has been enough of a headache so far that I should have something to show for it.

Edit: "Elves Are Cool" icon has been made. (see results on this post) Now I am free to add as many new icons as I want. But first I'm going to hack into Bobby's account and change his default icon to "Oh Yay. Elves Are Cool."

BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!

My feeble efforts to get friends & hubby on LJ have so far accomplished nothing... so there's nothing I could hack, even if I wanted to - with or without password...

:-))

You need to e-mail me your new phone # missy:P

[identity profile] greenknight33.livejournal.com 2006-02-01 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
All I have to say is: Oh yay, elves are cool, satellite dish ears and all (just kidding!).

[identity profile] isil-elensar.livejournal.com 2006-02-01 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Finish isil_elensar's birthday story! Yes, Isil, I have written about four pages of your birthday story, as the Legolas muse I acquired finally managed to wriggle free of the chains that my Feanor muse put him in.

I can't wait!! A birthday present in February... love it love it love it!!

Legolas is crafty, he can get out of almost anything that he sets his mind to... ;-)

Oh! And I read the SWG newsletter. I have an idea to ponder, but can one submit stuff already written, or does it have to be new? Shoot, I might just go with the idea anyway... because there's a certain someone *cough*TARION*cough* who wants a smut-fic with her and Amrod.... or both twins...

Lord love a duck... ;-)

[identity profile] isil-elensar.livejournal.com 2006-02-01 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad that you're not upset with me and the muses for taking so long...a Legolas muse was hard for me to acquire, especially all brain-frozen after writing all those holiday fics.

Why would I be upset with you? I'm still waiting for a fic a friend of mine was going to write me last year, and I'm not upset with them about it. It gets done when it gets done. *shrug* No biggie.

Next year, I shall have to start yours very early to assure it's done on time. ;)

Ooooohhh! By then, I might acquire a taste for another new canon character smut-fic... *cheesy grin*

For the SWG challenge, anything--old or new, borrowed or blue ;)--is more than welcome! I'm interested in seeing it!

AWESOME! I'll have to poke through and see what I remember writing. Not sure if this last round of fics qualifies, but I know I might have something laying around somewhere...

(And that Tarion...no comment. *shakes head* :^P)

LOL! She keeps me company in IM at night when I'm actually able to get online. And it's great to know my mind ain't alone in mucking around in the sewer that late at night...

*Jumps in*

Right HERE!!!

Hehehehe, you said "Amrod"

[identity profile] isil-elensar.livejournal.com 2006-02-01 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehehehe, you said "Amrod"

Yep. I did. And managed to keep myself in my seat at the same time, too... ;-)

[identity profile] tarion-anarore.livejournal.com 2006-02-01 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
And managed to keep myself in my seat at the same time, too... ;-)

Lol! I'm impressed.

[identity profile] tarion-anarore.livejournal.com 2006-02-01 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm here, I'm here, stop worrying...

I think your super bowl dessert should just have the Steelers logo. ^_^

*ducks*

I wish I had space for 100 icons! *whistles appreciatively* If you ever see one of mine, you're more than welcome to borrow it!

[identity profile] tarion-anarore.livejournal.com 2006-02-01 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
And that, my dear, is why you are evil.... ;^))

Oh, you like it...:P

And that's the same for me, although most of mine are admittedly crappy and usually just pictures I admire made tiny with (maybe) a scattering of text! ;^)

My icon inspiration is random, and lately, very simple. For example, eating Cheez-Its.

Do let me know what you end up making for Super Bowl dessert. Not just because I like reading your writing about dessert-crafting, but because we'll be discussing the Super Bowl and people's foodways concerning it in my folklore class fairly soon, and I've developed a little professional curiosity.

(Of course, if I were there, I might suggest the ice cream pie with the team logos on it. That sounds sweet. But that's just Pony, not Professional Pony.)

I will let you know! Actually, I've been beseeched to include a picture of it too. ;) Last night, I got candy molds in the shapes of miniature footballs, so it will include little caramel-filled footballs, at the very least.

I'm tempted to try the team logos too if only because it's been years since I've actually decorated a dessert in icing. And being the weird food-nerd that I am, I find that sort of thing great fun. My biggest deterrent at this point is the fact that I'll either have to use store-bought icing, which is expensive and hard to use, or acquire the supplies needed to make homemade. So the pie/cake might end up getting a standard Nelyo's caramel drizzle and chocolate footballs. I'll have to see how motivated I get...and how rich I feel!

Er... Dawn, I might have asked you before, but... How do you do it? I mean, your work, your family, your business, your writing, your beta-work, your SWG plans, making delicious ice cream pie that has made me drool all over the key board... OMG, I can't even share myself between studying for my exams and the muses who are running all over the place in my poor head right now. I envy you for being able to get so many things done so fast and so well.

Oh, will you send me at least a picture of the Super-Bowl masterpiece you are going to make? *gulps*

Alina, you're next! Your story is sitting in my data deposit box, just waiting, probably to be begun as soon as I finish the LJ entry.

O, bless you, Dawn, I'm so grateful you are doing this for me. Though I feel sorry for your poor eyes, if you mean to read the thing more then once. Don't be gentle, hack through it, 'cause it needs a lot of improvement.

Lots of hugs and thanks a million!

Seriously, since high school, I've had been involved in so many projects that I can barely keep them all straight...and in those ten years, it's gotten to the point where I become miserable if I don't have a dozen things going on at one time.

Like I said...a sick woman!

Yea, if managing to do so many things, and always get the job well done makes you a sick woman, then I want what you've got! Is it contagious? *crosses fingers*

Probably some sort of ice cream pie, as they are fairly easy and nonetheless impressive. It will involve wee chocolate caramel-filled footballs

OMG! *salivates* Too bad you're a continent and an ocean away! I'd get on a plane and pay you a little surprise visit if you were not that far away.

Silly woman...you underestimate yourself. ;)

Any reason why you don't like it? Because really, I don't think it's terrible at all...in fact, I am quite enjoying it!

Well, it's not that I don't like it. Or that it's so terrible. I liked the idea that what I was trying to convey and the way I meant for the characters to form a bond. But after reading it, when it was done, it just felt inconsistent. Like I should have said more. I don't know... I also forced most of it out of me. I didn't make funny faces like a few mornings ago, on the buss, while writing it. No, in fact, I was grimacing from the sheer effort of filling in the blanks between the character's lines. I did not give the story any of myself, except for the last part. (for example, I'm working on the smutfest and I'm so implicated in it that it's turning out to be so much more than pr0n. And it's so much fun to write, especially because of this.)

I'm glad you are enjoying it, though. ;)

I am fortunate that my job requires (usuallly) no more than three hours of concentrated effort from me per day.

I want a job like that, too, but I'd also love to have one that demands my full attention for even more that the traditional 8 hours.

anyone who comes into Nelyo's and can name the seven sons of Feanor in Quenya gets free ice cream!

Miam, miam! Will do! But what if I can also name all the Finwions (including Maeglin) by their Quenya names? *is shamelessly greedy*
You'll probably recongnize me, if I walk in and say "Wow! Maitimo's got his own business!" and I'll be wearing a self-made T-shirt that says Teh Biggest Feanor Fangurl. ;)

I'm tempted to ramble on now, but I've been leaving you lots of comments, so I'll save it all for then.

Thank you so much for every comment and every bit of ramble we've ever exchanged! I've just gone through the beta-ed story and I'm so very grateful for all the advice. And the wonderful words!

Oh, you're not a hard-ass beta, either! ;p
