You should send a sample of some of the more graphic scenes to Nilmandra, and see what she says. She has been known to accept pretty graphic writing before (though not often). And, since SoA's normal rating system does go up to R, and there is the option of an adults-only warning button, you might not have to tone it down as much as you think.
