Grubs? :^D See, I find bees scarier than grubs because I like creepy-crawly things...just not being stung by them. (And I'm not afraid of bees either, which is evident perhaps by the fact that I've been stung about 200 times over my 25 years on Arda.)
But it's natural to have apprehension to all of those sorts of things. (There is a theory that I like a lot that suggests that people evolved fears of things like snakes, spiders, and insects [and grubs :^P] as a way to keep themselves out of danger and survive. This probably wouldn't apply to Elves, but maybe Eru in his wisdom imparted them with a natural apprehension of toxic, stinging creatures?)
