It's done so often that it's bound to get stale after a while for many people!
Heh, true! I bet I might like it better if more of them never mentioned Maedhros's hand or the word "kinslayers," too...
And yeah, I was going to mention the cousins thing, too--incest (especially twincest, but even just with cousins) honestly just does not interest me, whether other characters in the story approve of it or not (and however liberal my view of the Silmarillion and HoME might be otherwise, I myself definitely don't see the Elven societies (especially the Noldor) as being all that accepting of it), and it's often hard for me to buy when I'm reading something. (Though I don't exactly buy "Elves are liberal about homosexuality," either... but that's different from "Some Elves are probably gay or bisexual"...)
And I bet if I ever get into writing fanfiction, I'll probably write much differently than I read, myself!
Heh, yeah, my exact last name--and I think there's another family down the street with my last name, or there used to be! (But we are about half an hour from New Britain here, which has a major Polish population, so maybe it's only sort of surprising...)
