Really? That is interesting, as I do not remember reading that before, although I have encountered it in other stories. It certainly doesn't make sense, when given the "Annals of Aman," that no Elven children be born for 350+ years. All those Elves had to come from somewhere!
Call the Gods of Canon to smite me, but I always felt that Years of the Trees and Years of the Sun create conundrums. When one is talking of Feanor's twelve years of banishment, for example, is that Years of Trees or Sun? It happened in Valinor, so one would suppose it to be Years of Trees, but assuming the Sil was written in Middle-earth.... Anyway, I always use Years of the Sun in my stories. I figure that if anyone noticed and complained then it would be a simple edit to change it :)
