Thank you for sharing your holiday! It's a holiday foreign to me, and I find it fascinating to read about it. The menu sounds delightful (and a lot of work, even if some dishes were bought), but enormous! Are you supposed to eat a bit of every dish, for good luck or so? The collapsing table disaster sounds quite horrid - how good most could be salvaged and the plates didn't break! We're going to have Christmas Eve dinner with my parents this year, and as we're doing Veggie Chinese Fondue I'm bringing everything, from rice cooker to suitable tableware and most of the food. I already have nightmares of any transport accidents spoiling the food!
