I didn't even make it to two beers! *blushes* I had an unburped burp sitting in my stomach for like four hours (tmi, I know, sorry!) and that changed to heartburn after the first beer, so I decided not to push my luck any further, lest I end up unable to sleep.
Speaking of rules, don't even get me started on poor football officiating!
Yes, *grumblegrumble* the NFL really needs professional referees, like the other pro sports, rather than freelancing these lawyer-by-day eejits. It's only the most popular pro sport in the US; you'd think they could afford it. *sigh* But this happens to us at least once a year, where the officials make some majorly stupid call that ruins the game for us.
Incidentally, the NFL commissioner hates our team, didn't want an NFL franchise in Baltimore (after the Colts were robbed from us in '81), and really had to bite it hard when we won the Superbowl and he had to present us with the trophy. Not that I'm suggesting a conspiracy theory or anything, just an interesting correlation....
(He also, incidentally, despises the Raiders. Anyone beside me remember that famous New England/Oakland snow game? Again, just an interesting correlation.)
I'd imagine it many times worse for Jamie, as a player, than it is for me as a fan, so I really feel for you all on that! Football is just so subjective at times; at other times, there's no way for anyone to see what's going on in the pile, so decisions are more or less a coin toss. But it sucks when the coin consistently gets tossed more against you than for you.
