I don't know if it's proper of me to post comments to other people's stories before they do...
It's more than proper. ;) I expect a lot of people are away or not on their comps and so won't get their stories for several days. After all, I was one of them: I'm only back on now because I'm at work and it's better than fooling with the pile of warrants in front of me. >:^) But I've yet to collect my holiday gifts from people who wrote them.
I've always thought Nerds probably had an idea of what was happening to her husband and children too. With the bonds Elves seem to share, especially with their kin...I think of how much I worry about Bobby sometimes when he's thirty miles away at work and can't imagine how Nerdanel felt, with her entire family in a strange, dark land after being cursed by the Valar.
It probably won't surprise you to hear this, but I've mentally written a good deal from Nerdanel's PoV about how she coped after her family left. *is such a writing nerd!*
So, in the end, she must have wished to go back in time and change her choices.
Especially to save her children. What mother wouldn't sacrifice almost anything to save her children? (Okay, I know there's a good deal of real life Edain mothers who don't give two hoots, but what Elven mother?? ;^P) I think she would have born her strife with her husband if only she thought she could change things.
*huggles Nerds*
I admire you very much for being able to write pieces like this, of such beauty both of style and structure.
*blushes* Wow, what a lovely compliment! You're going to give me a Feany-sized head! (8^D) <--bighead me
But seriously, thank you. :) I still suffer from low confidence as a writer sometimes, and it really means a lot to me to have you say this. :)
