It is remarkably impressive how great you were able to work with the little information that we are given on Finarfin and his fate, especially after the flight of his people.
Thank you! :) Yes, a lot of it is conjecture, but I've thought a lot about all of this--thanks to the seemingly-ne'er-to-be-finished Finarfin/Earwen novella--and think it makes sense. I figured the best thing to do was to throw it out to my wiser canatic friends to be chewed over.
I have opened my eyes and at least given the poor Elf some credit.
He seized me in AMC and wouldn't let go...and these thoughts evolved as a result. Plus, writing him--because he's so neglected--feels like untrodden ground, and so I feel much more free to be creative in my stories. So much has been done with Feanor, Fingolfin, and families that even ideas that I have seem to have been done before, and I don't want to plagarize anyone, even inadvertantly. Finarfin is a much fresher character to write, imho.
By the time we are done, though, he looks a little thoughtful, tapping a finger to his forehead and muttering
Ah...gotta love those muses! My Feanor muse has been very quiet this month after I estranged him and Nerdanel (twice!), made him fight and reconcile with Macalaure, paired him with Arien, and got him lost in the woods and covered in mud for his holiday stories. Besides, my Feanor muse doesn't mind Finarfin so much, at least at the point where I am in AMC.
And I've gone bananas right with you, it seems.... ;)
