Oh my goodness, what a lovely tribute to a very special person. He was your family, Dawn, even though he wasn't blood-related. Your writing about him was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. I have had special people in my life too, and I even have a box where I keep old cards, pictures and some small tokens - things that they gave me through the years. Kind of like the Hershey's Kisses that Uncle Wodie left you. What kind of work did he do in his younger years? It is a shame that he never had kids of his own because he was so good with them. But then maybe he was destined to be this special person just for you and your sister.
