Okay, I had another blond moment. Apparently, I did the meme that Rhapsy tagged me for wrong. That's what you get for not reading the instructions before posting, I guess! Anyway, the purpose of the meme was to write five complete lies and one true fact. Then folks are supposed to guess which is true.
So let's try this again....
1. I much prefer Lord of the Rings to The Silmarillion, both as a story and as fodder for my own writing.
2. I have won awards for miniatures painting.
3. I am quite a competent ice skater.
4. I am trying to talk Bobby into naming our first child "Maedhros."
5. My only pet is a stuffed unicorn called "Maeglin."
6. My laptop computer has recently decided that he prefers to be addressed as "Rumil, Lord of Tirion."
As for tagging, the tags still stand because I'm too tired to think up five more people to tag who haven't already done this. If you want to do it, consider yourself tagged.
I'll post the answer...sometime.

Date: 2006-08-07 09:58 pm (UTC)#2 was the true fact. I have twice won miniatures-painting competitions, nothing major, but it sure ticked off a few nerds, getting beaten by a girl!

Date: 2006-08-07 09:59 pm (UTC)#2 is the true fact. I used to be a rabid miniatures' painter; I still enjoy it but have trouble finding the time now that I live on my own and have to clean my own bathroom. ;)

Date: 2006-08-05 04:23 pm (UTC)Although I suppose it could technically be #6 if your computer is anything like mine. I wouldn't be surprised if my computer recently decided it wanted to be addressed as "Rumil, Lord of Tirion".
And, as much as I love Mae, I really hope it's not #4! (Except you don't want kids. But I could see this conversation happening in silliness!)

Date: 2006-08-07 10:02 pm (UTC)I actually have named by laptop "Pengolodh." And he has recently decided that he prefers "Pengolodh, Lord of Gondolin." Snooty thing.
As for #4, I am always trying to convince Bobby to allow me to give things Elvish names. One day, we hope to have a boat, and I really, really, really want to call it "Vingilote." He remains reluctant, however. :^P

Date: 2006-08-07 10:15 pm (UTC)I still wouldn't be surprised if your computer changed its mind and wanted to be Rumil. Maybe it's having an identity crisis?
And children and things are quite different! (Well not always...anyways, that's entirely beside the point) Imagine the mispronunciations the kid would have to endure!!
Kindergarden teacher: "M-...May-...Do you go by your middle name?"
Dawn's kid Maedhros: "My middle name is Maedhros. My first name is Nelyafinwe."
Kindergarden teacher: *faint*
And I think Vingilote is a fine name for a boat! :)

Date: 2006-08-05 08:59 pm (UTC)If you and Bobby have a kid and call him Maedhros, I'll have one too and name him Anarion. We'll even have the naming celebration together. He, he... what say you?

Date: 2006-08-07 10:03 pm (UTC)My laptop is actually named "Pengolodh" and he likes to be called "Pengolodh, Lord of Gondolin." Actually, insists on being called "Pengolodh, Lord of Gondolin" is more like it!

I think that's a great idea! An Essecarme! And I'm willing to go all out for this too, to host it in the coldest ice palaces of Hell and release a couple dozen flying pigs. >;^D

Date: 2006-08-05 09:26 pm (UTC)Lap top (veing started up): Yes Dawn?
Dawn: I want to write, I have a great idea and... why aren't you proceeding?
Lap top: well if you adress me correctly
Dawn: aw come on! You are just a lap top!
Lap top is offended and freezes the login screen
Dawn: okay, can I please work with you, Lord Rumil of Tirion?
I am going with nr 3. That is what my d6 says ;)

Date: 2006-08-07 10:05 pm (UTC)(I remember once chatting with Isil online and she was tossing around four plotbunnies, and I helped her pick by rolling a d4. Bobby made fun of me for that.... :^P [Like he isn't in my D&D league!])
My laptop actually insists on being addressed as "Pengolodh, Lord of Gondolin." I am trying to get Bobby to name his new one "Rumil, Lord of Tirion," but no luck, so far....
