Because interactive memes are fun!
The first has been going around for a while. I first saw it at
nienna_weeper but it has since been adopted by lots of others, and I was poked into doing it by
sirielle:
Obviously, some things are right out, but that should make sense to most people. And challenging requests are more than welcome!
The second meme was one that was done last summer, but it is great fun, and as we get ready to start NaNoWriMo and other such ambitious fiction projects, now seems as good a time as any to bring it back.
Some Dawn-specific caveats:
And have fun! :)

Tell me something that you would like me to take a picture of and I will take the picture that you request and post it in my LiveJournal.

Ask any of my characters a question (or several!) I guarantee you that the character will answer you honestly.
Some Dawn-specific caveats:
- Fanfic and original characters are all fair game, even if the original story is locked. Midhavens characters are fair game too, even if they haven't appeared in an actual story yet.
- If you have a character from a particular story or verse in mind, please be specific. Otherwise, you're going to get plain ol' Felakverse, so if you want By the Light of Roses Feanor, for example, please let me know this. Otherwise, he's going to look at you oddly when you ask him what part of Erestor is most kissable.
- Post this in your LJ and I will ask your characters or muses some questions!
And have fun! :)

Date: 2006-10-06 07:15 pm (UTC)Yes, in later years in Alqualonde, I did. I was terrible in them, though. I would usually spend most of the class thinking about other things. Obviously, I can compose. I obviously can't compose in pressurized settings!
Or playing in ensembles or such?
Only informally, as when my wife (then betrothed) and our friends would get together to play at festivals and other special occasions.
Do you write flute music for Vingarië?
Yes, I do! And she writes music for me.
How good a dancer are you?
Fairly good, I suppose, having a musician's sense of rhythm and coming from a naturally athletic family. But I never loved dancing in the same way that some of my brothers did. Most of the time, I was playing the music. When I was not, I much preferred to simply hold my Vingarie close and just listen, as though the music we shared could melt the space between us.
And, because it will make Dawn happy. . . will you dance the Reel of the Royal Scots with me?
Yes! (If you teach me the steps....)

Oh, and another question for Feany (in no specific story, this time): Would you consider dying your hair blond for me?
*goes O_O at own question* Gah, I'm really done for with this one, aren't I? Teh Blasphemy...
Sowwy, I can't seem to think of questions that are remotely less silly. (but then, I'm like this 95% of the time!). And I'd like to see a piccie of your Elves ears. ;)

Date: 2006-10-06 07:23 pm (UTC)Well, there is this spot between his navel and his hip: If you draw a diagonal line between his navel and his hipbone (either side) and take the midway point of that line, the skin there is very soft and sensitive. I like to kiss him there (and he knows where I am going next, so he tends to like when I kiss him there as well).
Oh, and another question for Feany (in no specific story, this time): Would you consider dying your hair blond for me?
Absolutely not! I am no Vanya!

I have to admit when I am in a person's home for the first time, I always want to see what kinda books they have.
Ask any of my characters a question (or several!) I guarantee you that the character will answer you honestly.
Well Kevin wants to know what Carni's fav toy is and how far he can throw it. He also wants to know how Tyelko can catch butterflies (in other words: how does he do that?). (all AMC-verse)
Hmmm as for me. For Salt Carnistir: did you ever had any hint of your brother's fates? Specifically that one of Macalaure? If so, did the thought to change that course of fate cross your mind? If not, what are your reasons?
The Gift Tyelko. What was Celebrimbor's first word for you and what is your nickname for him?
AMC Macalaure: what would you do if one of your brother's got hold of one of your instruments, for example your harp and they removed vital parts from it so that you couldn't play anymore?
That's all I can come up with now :)

Date: 2006-10-06 07:39 pm (UTC)Well Kevin wants to know what Carni's fav toy is and how far he can throw it.
My brothers made for my other brother Turko (who hates when I call him that) some wooden Telerin ships. I like those, though they are not suitable for bringing to bed. Or so Atar says. For that, I have a dog made of rags that belonged to--and was drooled over and chewed and used as a handkerchief--by all of my brothers before being given to me.
I can throw it as far as I need to in order to ensure that my mother or father must get up from where they are sitting to retrieve it for me. Or else I cry. Loudly.
He also wants to know how Tyelko can catch butterflies (in other words: how does he do that?).
I ask them, of course. I ask them if they want to play and promise that when we are finished, I will take them to the best roses in my father's garden and stand there while they feed so that dumb Carnistir doesn't run up shouting and scatter them all.
For Salt Carnistir: did you ever had any hint of your brother's fates? Specifically that one of Macalaure? If so, did the thought to change that course of fate cross your mind? If not, what are your reasons?
On occasion, I see glimpses of what might be the future. Only I am never sure because I see also the dreams of others and perhaps what they hope--or fear--will be the future, and I do not know if that is what his fated to come to pass.
When I would think on Macalaure, the following dream came to me: that he would be reunited with his wife and at last be able to live in peace as they never truly could before, even in Valinor. That is what I believed that his fate would be, though I do not know. He has yet to come to the Halls.
The Gift Tyelko. What was Celebrimbor's first word for you and what is your nickname for him?
I call him "Tyelpe" like nearly everyone else. My brother and his wife--though I love them both--are not very skilled at naming, it seems.
The first word that Tyelpe said to me was "no." For a long while, that was all that he would say even when he meant "yes." Or he'd hold up his arms to me like he wanted me to lift him and say "no." I was never fooled, though.
AMC Macalaure: what would you do if one of your brother's got hold of one of your instruments, for example your harp and they removed vital parts from it so that you couldn't play anymore?
I believe that the little imps might actually do it. I try to keep my music room barred against them, yet they always get in somehow.
If the did such a heinous thing, I honestly suppose that I might first have a good cry and punch something soft that wouldn't hurt my hand. I work hard to keep my instruments in good shape, and that would be a lot of work to repair them. Then I'd probably tell Nelyo who would tell Atar who would (hopefully) see that the imps were punished. There isn't much that I could do to them, precisely, as they are so much smaller than me, but Atar will deny Tyelkormo playtime and Carnistir gravy, and they would regret it. Oh, would they regret it.
That's all I can come up with now :)
They're brilliant! Thank you so much! I (and the muses) had great fun with them. :)

Date: 2006-10-06 05:39 pm (UTC)BtLoR-Feanor: What part of Erestor is most kissable? No, just kidding. Let's assume the Darkening had not happened and Nerdanel had returned to you - would she have been able to restore peace in your family, and how would you have explained Erestor to her? How do you think she would have reacted to know that you took another lover in her absence and yet still hoped for her to return?
Ickle-AMC-Carnistir: You had lots of dark dreams/visions. Did you ever have any normal, or even pleasant ones?
Maglor: I am ridiculously fond of your wife as a character, but I can't image what she looks like... can you describe her?

BtLoR-Feanor: What part of Erestor is most kissable?
Well....
No, just kidding.
Oh. *dejected face*
(Dawn would like to add that
Let's assume the Darkening had not happened and Nerdanel had returned to you - would she have been able to restore peace in your family, and how would you have explained Erestor to her? How do you think she would have reacted to know that you took another lover in her absence and yet still hoped for her to return?
Whether my wife will be able to restore peace in my family depends on whether our children are willing to forgive her for causing the dissention in the first place. If not for her leaving, our family never would have been broken. Nine of us--my father being included in that number--were strong enough in our love to bear a twelve-year exile. It was Nerdanel who was not.
As for Erestor, I would have explained him as the result of a ten-year bout of celibacy not of my choosing. Aside from physical desires, I wished to be held and loved again, to approach someone whom I love as an equal rather than a parent or a son. Nerdanel left and Erestor was willing; I never would have had such a relationship with him if she did not leave me first.
I would hope that she would recognize her causal role in Erestor's special importance in my life. In many years of marriage, I was never once unfaithful in deed or even in word (though I did occasionally indulge in lustful thoughts, but a man must be permitted the privacy of his thoughts or chance going mad). I would hope that Nerdanel--always being the understanding sort--would realize that she left me, and I did not choose to go unfulfilled and lonely.
Ickle-AMC-Carnistir: You had lots of dark dreams/visions. Did you ever have any normal, or even pleasant ones?
I do, but always it was the dark dreams that drew the attention of my parents and others. Apparently, pleasant dreams were expected in Valinor.
Maglor: I am ridiculously fond of your wife as a character, but I can't image what she looks like... can you describe her?
Vingarie is half-Telerin and half-Noldorin. She is taller than the average Teler yet quite small to me. Her head comes only to my shoulder. She has dark hair with small streaks of silver and gray eyes. She has never been called a great beauty, but I can imagine no one with a more beautiful face. She is very small in build, with a musical voice, and light and quick on her feet.
Now, that was that... I'll post this meme in my journal too, once I get around to the 5-lies one, feel free to drop as many questions as you want!
I will! :^D (Where do you hide your stories?)

Date: 2006-10-09 06:02 am (UTC)Carnistir: When you first met Rumil, did you understand his torment? Did you ever come to understand his torment? Nelyo's?
(
Don't tell me if I should know these answers, because then I'll feel stupid. ;))(no subject)
Date: 2006-10-12 12:53 am (UTC)Given this, I had a good idea what would be my brother's fate when he was captured. But at night, I could not resist sending my thoughts to him, and he reluctantly communicated with me because he knew that I would not leave him until he did, and he didn't want me to know what was done to him. I knew far more than he suspected, and I didn't sleep many nights because of it. But what was my torment to his?
In terms of understanding how it affected the Elves that they are, their spirits, if you will...this I tried to understand, but it was beyond my comprehension. Nelyo was like a jigsaw puzzle put together whole, then scrunched up into pieces, then put back together wrongly somehow. I would look into his thoughts when he didn't know that I was there. He connected things in strange ways. Emotions arose from places where they did not belong. It is hard to explain to a mortal who does not know osanwe. I suppose that I understood more than my brothers who only knew that he was prone to illogic and not apt to be talked out of it or that he would be filled with rage or grief or joy for no reason at all...sometimes, I could perceive the causes of these things. But usually, I could not.
Rumil I believe sees beauty differently than the rest of us because he has seen the ugliest sights in the world. There would be times that I would walk with him, and we would be trudging through a meadow, and I could feel him wishing me to stop so that I would not tread on the grasses and flowers and leave the butterflies and insects in peace. These things he saw as beautiful, and I saw them as ordinary. He would stand for hours, if I would let him. But this appreciation, I believe, was borne of his torment, and so I could never truly understand.
