While I was getting the pictures of the flooded basement off of our camera, I saw some recents of the Goldens, and it occurred to me that I have not done a Golden picspam in a long time. Since it is a wet, miserable day, and I haven't quite mustered the energy to get started on making materials for my students, then I thought now would be a good time for some fuzzy Golden goodness!

Alex has this way of laying on the floor with his elbows sticking out so that he looks like 1) roadkill or 2) like he's putting his hands up to be arrested.

You can buy things to put in front of your doors so that drafts don't come in. Ours was free but came flea-infested.

Does that little scrap of carpet really make all the difference to his comfort? Who knows.

If I try to take a nap with Bobby on Friday afternoon, you should see the dirty looks I get! That is Lancelot's time with his Daddy.

Lance still carries around pillows to lay on them. However, he's yet to learn that, once he gets a pillow down, he can lay on it more than once. Every time he gets up, he gets a new pillow. Sometimes there are three or four of them scattered throughout the house.

Before I worked from home for a year, I often wondered what the Goldens did all day while we were gone. I got my answer.

Lancelot is small for a male Golden. Nonetheless, the size he can curl himself into borders on ridiculous. He can take up a quarter of a couch cushion or fit on Bobby's chest.

Lance has always collected as many bones and desirable toys as he can find in the house and surrounded himself with them. Then he growls at Alex if Alex even walks by. We named him Bone Collector when he was a puppy because he'd frequently gather three or four rawhide scraps around himself ... and chew on none of them, of course. Here, Bone Collector collects two of the coveted Bigs. Plus a pillow, naturally.

Despite all of his growling, Lancelot is a big little wimp. He's afraid of ... let's see: the broom, Christmas ornaments that play music, the bread machine, the carpet sweeper, large metal bowls, and he's terrified of the smoke detector. While canning salsa the other day, Bobby spilled some stuff on the stove burner and set off the smoke detector. Lancelot scampered into the study and hid under my desk (which barely fits my computer and my knees). Then he tried to climb into my lap.
