1. When you looked at yourself in the mirror today, what was the first thing you thought?
"The ab stuff you're doing is working." (I rarely see myself in the mirror below the shoulders!)

2. How much cash do you have on you?
Some coins. Less than a dollar, some of which is in the form of pressed souvenir pennies! I don't carry cash.

3. What’s a word that rhymes with DOOR?
Boor

4. Favorite planet?
Earth

5. Who is the 4th person on your missed call list on your cell phone?
Some number I don't know. It was a Maryland number, though.

6. What is your favorite ringtone on your phone?
I use a ringtone that sounds like gently ringing chimes. The strident volume of most ringtones is perturbing to me.

7. What shirt are you wearing?
A blue hooded shirt with a brown tied-dyed pattern. It's a pretty rad shirt. A guy in the hall told me so. :)

8. Do you label yourself?
Of course! I'm borderline millennial. Which is itself a label but also a generation that starts a lot of sentences with "I am ..."

9. Name the brand of the shoes you’re currently wearing?
Clarks ... brown leather slip-ons, butter-soft, like heaven on my poor deformed left foot.

10. Bright or dark room?
Dark. I used to wear a brimmed hat as a kid because bright lights bothered me. Now, after many workdays, I come home to just read in the dark (with a booklight! I'm not a termite) for an hour or so to let my brain recalibrate itself.

11. What do you think about the person who took this survey before you?
I've seen this three different places from three awesome, smart, funny women whom I am grateful to consider friends: [personal profile] pandemonium_213, [personal profile] heartofoshun, and [personal profile] rhapsody.

12. What does your watch look like?
It's a Geneva with a bright blue fake leather band and a white face. I got it at the souvenir shop at Strasburg Railroad for 20 smackers. It's the first watch I've had in years!

13. What were you doing at midnight last night?
Sleeping! We stared The Grey, but Bobby rode for nine hours yesterday and fell asleep a little after eleven. I did a little reading and wasn't far behind him.

14. What did your last text message you received on your cell say?
"On my way! Ready for some fash!" (From Bobby a few days ago. Clearly I don't text a lot! He was at ski patrol training, and we were going to lunch at O'Lordan's for fish sandwiches. [Yes, we call "fish" as "fash." I did it on a whim once and it stuck.])

15. Where is your nearest 7-11?
Ummm ... I think there's one in Hampstead, which is the next town south of us?

16. What's a word that you say a lot?
Awesome. I have a student who does a really good mimicry of me saying it. 8^|

17. Who told you he/she loved you last?
Bobby.

18. Last furry thing you touched?
The Goldens, saying goodbye Wednesday before they went over Dawn's house. I told them I'd better not hear any bad reports! That lasted, oh, five minutes for Phil.

19. How many drugs have you done in the last three days?
I don't do drugs, man, I'm high on life.

20. How many rolls of film do you need developed?
I actually do think I have some of those disposable cameras at home that I never got developed and maybe a couple of rolls from my film SLR ...

21. Favorite age you have been so far?
I'm quite happy at the age I am now. The 20s are way overrated. I was impoverished, overworked, and too young-looking to be taken seriously by a lot of people. I got trod on a lot. I'm tougher now and feel like I'm coming into my own. The future looks bright.

22. Your worst enemy?
My workaholism. I will literally work myself sick. I think it's hereditary; I don't ever remember my dad not working. He worked at the State by day as the print shop supervisor and then at his home typesetting business at night. When he gave the business up, he became a manager at The Piece. He's 72 and still works part-time for the State.

23. What is your current desktop picture?
The default--I am boring! Also, I always have so many files open that I never see my desktop background unless I need to minimize them all to open a rarely-used program, like YouTube Downloader.

24. What was the last thing you said to someone?
"Have fun!" (as Bobby walked out the door to go snowboarding)

25. If you had to choose between a million bucks or to be able to fly, what would it be?
I'll take the money and pay off our bills so that neither of us have to work much.

26. Do you like someone?
I like a lot of people.

27. The last song you listened to?
Sheesh. I don't even remember. Actually, it was "What a Feeling" from Flashdance ...

28. What time of day were you born?
Two minutes before noon, which my dad likes to frequently remind me really fucked with lunch.

29. What is your favo(u)rite number?
33 (Bobby's hockey number) and also 7 (and not just because of the sons of Fëanor!)

30. Where did you live in 1987?
In the family home in Kingsville, Maryland, a little semi-rural town in Baltimore County.

31. Are you jealous of anyone?
No. I am capable of it, but I work hard to stamp this particularly ugly emotion out of myself. I am proud of my accomplishments and skills.

32. Is anyone jealous of you?
Probably.

33. Where were you when 9/11 happened?
I was at UMBC, in my Psychological Assessment class. This was during the seven-month period that Bobby and I were broken up. I'd cried most of my way to school (because of the asshole I was dating during the time Bobby and I were broken up). I heard people talking about planes and towers in class and thought they were talking about something that happened at BWI, which was right down the road from UMBC. I didn't think much of it. I left class and noticed that everyone in the quad was on the phone. I rolled my eyes at that and bought an orange soda and noticed they'd set up a TV in the Pub, which they never did. I went over the watch it with everyone else and drink my orange soda. I could not make sense of what I saw. I mean, it literally went into my brain and ran up against a wall of denial that I had seen what was on that TV. I wandered around campus because I wasn't sure what to do and then went to my car and put on the radio to see if I could figure out what was going on. What I heard made me realize that what I had seen was real. I left school, even though I had class that afternoon, and cried again all the way home, for a very different reason this time.

34. What do you do when vending machines steal your money?
I can't even remember the last time I used a vending machine. When I was in high school, the soda machine ate my dollar, so my friend and I reached up the chute and discovered that a soda was lodged in it. We wiggled it free, and every soda that had been ordered since them tumbled out, so we got like four sodas for a dollar.

35. Do you consider yourself kind?
Absolutely.

36. If you had to get a tattoo, where would it be?
I would like a star of Fëanor on my left shoulder. Bobby has hinted that it would make a good omg-finally-finished-my-fucking-MA present. Believe it or not, we have a highly recognized tattoo artist working in Manchester.

37. If you could be fluent in any other language, what would it be?
Old English

38. Would you move for the person you loved?
Yes. We're considering it, actually.

39. Are you touchy feely?
Holy shit, no. I can bear being touched (I have students who like hugs and a lot of affection) but am not the type of person to reach out and touch first. The only person I touch regularly and voluntarily is Bobby. I often tell him that it is nice to have a human I can touch.

40. What’s your life motto?
Be the change you want to see in the world.

41. Name three things that you have on you at all times?
My wedding ring, a ring with diamond chips and a small sapphire in the shape of a flower (that Bobby gave me for our first Christmas together *mumblemumble* years ago), usually socks (tmi: more often than underroos actually).

42. What’s your favorite town/city?
Ocean City, Maryland, my favorite place in the world to go.

43. What was the last thing you paid for with cash?
Sheesh. I don't even remember. I don't carry cash, remember? ;)

44. When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone on paper and mailed it?
I sent a calligraphy commission to a friend around Christmastime, and I'm sure I included some kind of note.

45. Can you change the oil on a car?
Nope. I am horribly un-mechanical. Sometimes I have trouble getting the gas cap off because I have difficulty with right and left and can't remember which way to turn it! (The worst was the time when I turned it wrong and got it horribly stuck and had to ask for help while dressed in full medieval garb on my way to a demo.) I did take apart and put back together my dishwasher the other day, though, so there is hope for me. (I learned very well how to take apart and reassemble a dishwasher while working at The Piece.)

46. Your first love: what is the last thing you heard about him/her?
That he was heading out to the mountain to get first chair and would be back at 10:45 to check out of the room and carry stuff to the car. ;)

47. How far back do you know about your ancestry?
My mom's side are Stuarts, so I know what history tells us about the Stuarts. (I told this to a class one time while we were reading Gawain and the Green Knight, and they very excitedly starting plotting to travel to Scotland to help me reclaim "my" castle no matter how much I explained to them that that wasn't really how it worked anymore.) On my dad's side, I know my grandmother's parents were off-the-boat Polish; my grandmother was mostly raised in a Catholic convent. My grandfather's people were German and Irish, also immigrants. I never met my great-grandparents; they were deceased on all sides by the time I was born, so I don't know much more than that.

48. The last time you dressed fancy, what did you wear and why did you dress fancy?
Last year's prom, I suppose.

49. Does anything hurt on your body right now?
Actually and blissfully NO.

50. Have you been burned by love?
Yes.
