Last night, at my parents' house for Pasta Night, I was sitting on the sofa and drinking my coffee and I got that feeling. That bad, viruses-settlin'-down-for-a-party feeling in the back of my throat. Bobby had a hockey game late last night in Columbia, so I just went home and crashed and didn't even hear him come in.
When I woke up this morning, it felt like someone had taken a fork and scraped it down the back of my throat. I could have called in sick to work, but I had ten new, shiny warrants waiting to be run, not to mention a pile of paperwork to scan into the system. And I knew none of it would get done if I didn't go in, so here I am.
On top of that, work has been annoying. CJIS decided to cop out on me a couple of times, and it has also decided not to print to my laser printer, so I had to send my pages to the fax machine. Which would be fine if the fax would print more than a page every thirty seconds. So nine warrants--which would take me no more than an hour to do everything, including the scanning, under normal conditions--took most of my morning.
And the phone...have I mentioned how much I despise strident noises? My cellular is actually set not to ring but to chirp like crickets because I can't stand the sound of phones ringing. The cricket sound is soft and gentle, on the other hand. The sound of Nextel direct connect, which is what we use for radios at work...*shudders.*
I'm less sore now but still feel like someone poured cement into my head. And I have club skating practice tonight and am thinking strongly of not going, as much as it pains me to miss practice. I think that I could probably skate at least to practice our group numbers, but I'm worried of wearying myself and throwing my immune system in the wrong direction, as well as smearing my clubmates with my germs, since our number involves a lot of skating in formations while holding hands/wrists.
In the meantime, I have a chapter of AMC to write for next week's posting. I wonder if I can coax wee!Carnistir into my sick head?
I was going to work on the website, but I don't know if the cementhead feeling is conducive to tinkering. I also have a D&D adventure to write and a pile of stories to read....
Be gone, viruses. I have work to do.

Date: 2006-02-08 05:18 pm (UTC)They've had their fill over here. o_OSeriously, I just hate the way I feel just before I get a cold. I mean, sure, it sucks to cough and have a running nose, but the exhaustion, headache and that nasty feeling in the back of your throat are way worse.
I hope you get better. Look after yourself.

Date: 2006-02-08 05:58 pm (UTC)Findekano is always welcome. And that story...!!! How many days 'til Valentine's day?? :^D I'm also going to try to write today. I have a Carnistir chapter to work on and a naughty!fic for
It's funny because, whenever friends are sick, I send Findekano to them too. I think that he must be a decent healer, if he kept Maitimo from dying on the ride back from Thangorodrim.
The good thing is that I can almost feel myself healing, so I'm hoping a night off with help with that. :) And thank you for the well wishes!
*disinfects self* and *hugs Alina back* :^P

Date: 2006-02-08 07:08 pm (UTC)I'm glad to hear that you're doing better. I was worried about you! I can't have my unfailingly cheerful and optimistic counterpart not feeling well! ;)
I'd imagine you can relate to ringing phones, working in a doctor's office. Luckily, since our bureau chief moved to another office, the phone doesn't ring nearly as much. That used to drive me crazy, as he was never here and people would want to know where he was. Like I knew? I felt like saying, "I'm not his f***ing keeper! Call his damned cell!"
Oh, I owe you an email about the RPG, so I will go do that now. :)

onlyFeanor. BTW, last time I checked, Feany was over there, shirtless and sent in by Jenni. Could I please have him back this week-end so that I can teach him some negotiating skills, since I'm studying that for my next exam? ;)(no subject)

Date: 2006-02-09 05:06 pm (UTC)It's making you dizzy? Lets just hope they are not afraid of airplanes. Though Maitimo should have no problems, after flying with the "Royal Eagle Service" back in the day.

Oh, no. I'll try to teach him to behave and ask nicely at least twice before starting to hack at people. I don't want him scaring all my future business partners. Though it would not be so bad to have a fully armed Noldo brandishing his sword and looking evol, if I ever want to intimidate an opponent...

Date: 2006-02-09 08:27 am (UTC)He, he... the story is 99% finished and I will begin posting it this Friday. *evol grin* It's quite long and I've divided it into five parts, which I will be posting over the week-end and then Monday&Tuesday. BTW, to stop calling it smutfest, 'cause it's gone past that point just after I started working on it, I'll let you know the story is called "Full brother in heart" (Doh! I've been itching to exploit that line for so long...)
I have a Carnistir chapter to work on and a naughty!fic for isil_elensar's belated birthday present.
Is it by any chance a Leggy naughty story? Because if so, I could help you with some inspiration. (i.e. hawt nekkid Legolas really good manips) I've exchanged mails with Isil and I've sent her said pix too. Seems I'm quite the naughty Elf-pix provider around here. ;)
I do hope Carni will talk to you and I hope he will be good to me also because, as soon as I'm done tweaking the foursome, I'll start working on the Moryo/Turukano piece.
disinfects self* and *hugs Alina back*
Lol, don't worry about me, I'm usually immune to other people's germs and I get sick only because of my own recklessness. But it's good to hear that you are doing better.
Findekano knows his thing, eh?(no subject)
Date: 2006-02-09 04:43 pm (UTC)>:^D *bounces*
And I love the title! I know that's one of your favorite lines, and it's very fitting given the...erm...content. ;)
Is it by any chance a Leggy naughty story?
Yes, which is why it's taking so long. I do not possess a Legolas muse. Nothing against Legolas, but I think I was too late getting into this fandom, and they were all sold out. So I ended up with a bunch of First Agers. ;) Anyway, I rented a Legolas muse, just for Isil's story (which is officially a month late today! woohoo!), but the Feanorian muses like to...erm...mess with him.
I have an idea and am almost at the smut (because of course, PWP eludes me so it has to have a story), so I just need to get Leggy and my OFC together in a quiet room.... >:^))
I've exchanged mails with Isil and I've sent her said pix too.
You know Isil too?! Yay! That's awesome! Small world, eh? ;)
I see you as the sort who lurks in alleys in a long coat and waits for innocent Elf-fanciers to pass before revealing your significant stash of naughty Elf photos tacked to the inner-lining....
"Care to buy an Elf photo?" :^P
Okay, I'm recovering and in a silly mood today!

Date: 2006-02-09 05:14 pm (UTC)Yea... I was pondering on the title, because I usually name my stories after they're done and the thought just struck me. I was like "OMG, Alina, you big idiot, you! How come you did not think of it sooner?!"

He, he, he... I like that. I like that a lot. Sounds like the beginning of a flourishing business.
"Care to buy an Elf photo? Come on, it's just a sneak preview... If you buy a hundred, I'll give you a discount and a peak at the real thing..." Mwhahahaha!
