Yesterday, my sister-in-law was admitted to the hospital and had a golf-ball sized abscess removed. Bobby just called me and said that she's home now and doing much better, but it's been a worry-filled morning. It's one of those situations where I wanted to call my inlaws and find out but know that--as Erin was only taken into surgery at 11:30 last night--they probably were asleep or didn't want to be otherwise bothered solely to ease my troubled mind.
In other health-related news, Dawn Felagund officially feels old. My cough persists; I wasn't aware that I'd taken up smoking as a habit, but I sure have a smoker's cough. And I slept like crap again last night, although I can't blame the muses this time. The muses were actually being nice to me, keeping me company when I couldn't sleep but leaving me alone when I'd start to drift off. *pets muses*
My right hip has been bothering me for weeks now, and it's a lazy-man injury. It only hurts when I sit or lay down for a long time, which is fine, except I have to sit at work and lay down to sleep. Anyway, it was gone for a good half-week, but I woke up this morning to find that it was back with a vengeance, worse than ever before. Usually, it goes away after I limp around for a few minutes. I just stood up to get a paper out of the fax, and it elicited a sharp pain and went all weak, nearly dumping me on my ass. Well, stupid-lazy-man hip, I have news for you: You are skating tomorrow. I don't care how badly it hurts. I'll limp around in the meantime. But you are skating.
I'm going to make a pretty sight, limping on my skates and hacking like an old lady.
I even considered calling out of work today. But I was persuaded--and this is bad--by the fact that I was three pages from finishing a beta for Jenni and I needed to work on this week's AMC posting, and both things were saved on my hard drive at work. So, yes, I came to work to work on fan fiction.
On a completely unrelated note, one of my original characters--not from Silmfic--is begging me for his own LJ. He insists that he will use it judiciously and seems to honestly believe that it would be good for me as a writer to waste my time writing in his LJ as well as mine. He also swears that he will keep it friend-locked. I don't know....
(Why do I feel like a parent with a hyper teenager, "Please please please let me get my bellybutton pierced?!" Gah. And he is a teenager. An part-Elven teenager. *glares at Meryth*)
Well, I haven't decided. He'll probably keep me awake at night until I say yes but I'm not giving in just yet.
