There's been some craziness going on up here on our hilltop. First of all, a black bear has been spotted multiple times in our neighborhood. It was first spotted on a road that joins ours. We get bears periodically in Carroll County (the week we moved here, there was a rabid bear over in neighboring Taneytown!), but they don't apparently reside here; they move on pretty quickly. This one is supposedly young and small. It's the closest to home that we've had a bear since moving here. I'd like to see it, just as long as I don't see it tipping over our beehive!

Last night, Bobby and I were supposed to go out for our anniversary, but we had to revise our plans thanks to the weather. Over the course of yesterday afternoon and evening, Manchester was placed under four consecutive tornado warnings. Tornado Madness! )

Here are about two-weeks worth of pictures that I've been meaning to post. Sadly, more often than not, I fail to download pictures off of our camera because--now that we have wireless Internet--I'm too lazy to set up on the desk and plug into the USB hub. Yikes.

The first set is the much-anticipated fish pictures. Our camera is not very good, so I will take more if I get the SeaLife camera for Christmas. (I say "if" because--since the SeaLife officially arrived a week-and-a-half ago--it has been hidden at my inlaws' house until the holidays. So it is offically a gift, and I am therefore not supposed to know about it!)

Next are the pictures of our rink that I took on what might be the last time I skated there. This is only a selection of the best; I will post them all if the rink does in fact close, most likely.

Finally, Bobby and I went hiking yesterday on the Ridge Trail at Patapsco Valley State Park. This is just a selection of the pictures that I took, those that I think will interest people the most. All of the pictures (and an account of the hike) can be found in [livejournal.com profile] the_nautilus here.

I am back. The weekend was lovely. A full account and pictures will follow, probably tomorrow, just as soon as I get my lazy butt off the couch (literally) and move myself and my computer back to the desk. Oh, this wireless Internet is a dangerous thing....

A few weeks ago, after returning from the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Bobby and I decided that since we like animals (but have an apartment too small to deal with the rambunctiousness and odors of a dog or cat) and are after all embarking on a study of marine science that will hopefully culminate in jobs not involving warrants or bird flu, then we would like to keep our own aquarium. Bobby used to be an aquarium nut, with three tanks in his room at one time: a 55-gallon "aggressive" tank, a ten-gallon community tank, and a five-gallon piranha tank, so this would be an easy undertaking for us.

Last week, we got the tank set up and bought out fish, and everything was going beautifully. But of course, Murphy had to stick his fingers into the water....
