Yes, I do still write stories! And Silmfic stories too. :)

"Statues" is about how Nerdanel coped with the loss of her husband and children through her art ... and how she may have helped the Teleri to do the same. I've kept it safe for all audiences, though there are some small mentions of violence at the Kinslaying at Alqualonde.

Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] tarion_anarore, [livejournal.com profile] noliel, and [livejournal.com profile] allie_meril! ([livejournal.com profile] trekqueen, aside from Glorfindel, I'm really not sure who your favorite characters are ... if you're not a Nerdanel fan, let me know, and I'll try to come up with something for you! :) So many March birthdays!

As usual, all comments--positive and critical--are welcome. Or just read and enjoy!

I wrote this story for Vana's ([livejournal.com profile] callirhoe) birthday, which was actually back in July. But since Vana didn't have computer access until recently, I intentionally withheld posting it because it didn't make much sense to post a birthday gift when the birthday girl can't read it!

Vana requested a story about Caranthir and the sea. This story is exactly that. In it, I assume my Felak!verse notion that Caranthir was the most "psychically" gifted of all of the Feanorians and that his osanwe guided much of his behavior. "Salt" spans his entire life--from the age of three years old until the day of his death--and considers how one misunderstood Elf and his relationship with his mother, the sea, and his own strange emotions might have led to the eventual overthrow of Morgoth.

Sounds strange? Well...yes. This story is a bit experimental, so please do not hesitate to let me know if something does not work for you. I started this story in mid-June and just finished it at the beginning of August. The basic concept and the first few pages came easily, like they'd already been written and just needed to be put onto paper. Then it faltered, and I wasn't sure exactly how I wanted to connect the many dots I'd drawn into a coherent story. July through August was mostly spent thinking about this story and how I wished it to end. In the past few days, I finally came to enough of a decision that the ending wrote itself, much as the beginning had.

But anyone who has lived with a story barely over ten pages for the better part of two months can probably relate the exhausted inability to comprehend anything about said story any longer. So I appreciate any honest assessments that readers are willing to give.

Vana, I hope that you enjoyed your birthday and send my fondest wishes, virtual hugs, and one strange story! :)

I am two days early, but since I am currently staring down a monster of a busy weekend, here goes....

Happy Birthday, Unsung Heroine!!!

I hope that all of your wishes come true, on this day and all others! I send you many virtual hugs and wish you many pretty Elves that magically speak and shut up just when you want them to!

And it might amuse you to know that--the other day--I was telling Bobby that I had a story to post for my online friend, Unsung Heroin. Eek. That was not a Freudian slip, I promise! ;)

Because it is your birthday, and I like to torture honor my friends on their birthdays by writing them stories, then I wrote for you a story. Now, a little bird told me that you like Haleth and Caranthir, and you like even better the "Interspecies Love Song" that occurs when they are together. And so I give to you a little Haleth/Caranthir action. (It's Haleth/Caranthir versus Caranthir/Haleth because we all know that Haleth was definitely on top!)

This little tale ponders what would have happened if Haleth and Caranthir did have a romantic relationship. With the fates of the Eldar and the Edain sundered, it would have been a bittersweet love...or would it? Given the nature of Haleth and Caranthir, the story is rated for adults only for some sexuality--though nothing insanely graphic--and violence, as well as thematic content, if you're bothered by discussions of death and stuff.

As usual, comments and criticisms are welcomed! I have given this one read-through, so it's on board for editing and widespread posting in the future, and all suggestions are most helpful.

Best wishes again to you, Heroine, and happy early birthday!

To kick off this posting:

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] allie_meril!!!

Best wishes for a happy day today (despite all the classes and the lab) and many, many more to come!

For Allie's birthday, of course, I have written a story. Well, it's not a traditional story; it is actually a series of eight drubbles. Allie asked on the HASA Birthday Cards Forum for stories having to do with students, and I know that she likes Nerdanel, and so these eight drubbles follow Nerdanel's life and the lessons she's learned.

Because it's Feanor/Nerdanel at parts and I'm a hopeless perv for them, this story teeters precariously on the line between a general and an adult rating. To use American movie ratings, it's a healthy PG-13. There is nudity and some sexuality but nothing graphic.

Enjoy your day, Allie, and many hugs!

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] tarion_anarore!!!

I hope that your day is wonderful and portends a year of much more joy! :)

The short story that I have written in honor of Tarion's birthday got its inspiration from two places. The first, naturally, is Tarion, who wanted a story about Carnistir in his youth, preferably angsty and not the romantic sort, since she got angsty romantic humor for Christmas.

The second bit of inspiration came from [livejournal.com profile] rhapsody11, who asked me how Carnistir--who once likened the music around Macalaurë as buzzing gnats--might see a writer. Would he perceive the words that constantly whirl around our heads and dominate our thoughts, even while we are doing other things? I thought this was a wonderful question, and it opened the topic for exploration for me.

"Constellation" is a story about the friendship between young Carnistir and the loremaster Rumíl of Tirion. (Not the cute one...sorry, girls!) I am using my Felak!verse version of Rumíl. For those who have not read the chapter in Another Man's Cage where Nelyo discusses meeting Rumíl with his father, a brief synopsis of my take on this character follows, behind the cut.

Felak!verse Rumíl...warning for discussions of violence )

"Constellation" also uses the Felak!verse notion that Carnistir is extraordinarily gifted with osanwë and can perceive things about people that others cannot. This story is essentially about perception: Two Elves who are often misread by those around them and the friendship they formed based on this connection and their ability to see what the others cannot.

I behaved for once and, aside from a bit of violence, there are no strong warnings for this story, and I'm keeping it at a safe general warning.

[livejournal.com profile] isil_elensar's birthday was 9 January, and I had all intents of having a story finished for her. Alas, this story proved elusive to me, and I'm still not sure it's what you wanted, Isil. It turned out kind of weird.

But nonetheless, more than two months later, Isil's birthday story is finally finished. She asked for Legolas, NC-17, and I did my best to oblige. Apologies, again, Isil, for taking so long. :^/

But at last, here is your weird smutty Legolas story entitled "Red Leaves." It is rated for adults only for reasons of heterosexual sex.

This is a very, very belated birthday present for [livejournal.com profile] juno_magic. She loves Elrond quite passionately and has, in turn, given me a new appreciation for him, and so her birthday begged commemoration with an Elrond story. Thank you, Juno, for your patience in waiting for this story, which has been promised to you for a month now. I hope that you enjoy your gift, belated though it may be.

"Droplets" is a series of nine double drabbles following Elrond from his early life at the end of the First Age into the Fourth Age. I apologize for any canonical errors. As most of you know, I don't play much beyond the First Age; in fact, this is my first ever story that takes place even in part in the Third Age.

As always, comments and suggestions are more than welcome. Underaged readers should be aware that there is some mild sexual content. (How can one honor Juno without a little bit of smut, especially if it's Elrond!smut?)

And, once again, happy birthday, Juno. You are one of the reasons that I became so comfortably immersed in the Tolkien fanfic community, and I am grateful to you for this, as well as your wonderful friendship. Thank you and enjoy.

First of all, I need to get some personal business out of the way:

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] fanged_geranium!

...and...

Congratulations, [livejournal.com profile] arandil13!

Okay, now that I've done obnoxious big!fonts and marquee for the day, onto the story!

Actually, I wrote this story for the aforementioned [livejournal.com profile] fanged_geranium's birthday. It always seems, when I want to write a birthday story, that I have this amazing drought of inspiration. So I spend the better part of the two weeks leading up to said birthday, wringing my hands and sometimes the necks of my muses, trying to come up with something that fits their preferences, my preferences, and my abilities. (Because I am a totally selfish author. I will not write characters for whom I feel little or nothing. Not even as an experiment.)

So, driving to Subway for lunch on Monday, I was assaulted once again by the mantra: "S***. [livejournal.com profile] fanged_geranium's birthday is on Wednesday. I have to write her a story. Something. I've had some of my best Sil discussions with her. She spends so much time on and selflessly shares such wonderful resources."

And this little inkling of an idea came to me....

As with all my birthday stories, it is very raw and a bit experimental. I appreciate any and all comments, as usual.

Also, it's cross-posted to [livejournal.com profile] silwritersguild. Apologies to friends of both for the redundancy.

On a completely unrelated note, I haven't forgotten the daily drabbles for yesterday and today. They'll probably be posted tonight. I am sickeningly far behind on my beta/review work, still have to eat lunch, and ARGH!!

Where's the 36-hour day??

Okay, the story. For real :)

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] arandil13!

I would sing to you, but you don't want to hear the off-key warbling that I call "singing." No Maglor, am I ;) So I have written you a story instead.

I had in mind a bit of forge-smut. After all, nothing says "Happy Birthday" like forge-smut, at least to a Fëanatic. So I got my Fëanor imaginary friend muse and my Nerdanel imaginary friend muse and put them in the forge together and....

Nothing.

It's kind of like mating great pandas, apparently. You can put them together with all the right moods but that doesn't mean that they're going to do anything. They kind of giggled together. Fëanor made some pretty bracelets, all of which he gave to Nerdanel (much to my dismay, as it was my birthday too, and the bastard owes me), but no forge-smut. Damn.

So I changed the environment a bit and got...something. It seems my imaginary friends muses don't like mindless stuff, even if it's smut. They want to do everything with a purpose. Pretentious gits.

But there are naughty bits in it. So if you are underaged (I am obviously not talking to Arandil here but to others who might stumble upon this) or bothered by this sort of thing, please stop reading now.

The idea of Fëanor's relationship with the Valar as compared to Nerdanel's and the marital conflicts it must have caused has always fascinated me. I deal with it a lot (later) in AMC. Well, it seems they were determined to deal with it here too.

As always, comments and suggestions are welcome. This is very rough, as a week ago, it was not even written yet. Such is the nature of birthday stories. Happy reading!
