First order of business: gakked from just about everyone,

If you think you know me well enough to respond to this, what warning label would you slap on me before letting me leave the factory house?

Next, what happened to [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive?? Gah. Well, I wanted to do this one two weeks ago but was busy, so...

The Family Five )

And...the [livejournal.com profile] fannish5...

Name five fanfic cliches you secretly (or not-so-secretly) like.

And Fëanor Cried, 'None and none!' )
Firstly, I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] rhapsody11. This one is interesting, I think. Here are the rules:

Below is a series of open-ended statements that you can answer in any way you wish. (Your favorite song at that time, the name of the head of state, the color of your favorite shirt, the name of your school, the name of your crush, a fear or worry you remember, a sport you played or whatever else strikes your fancy.)

You may stop at whatever age you wish, or continue on for hopes for the future if you like. If you've seen more years than are listed here, feel free to add on!

Then, tag four other people you're interested to see memories from.

So whom shall I tag? [livejournal.com profile] tarion_anarore/[livejournal.com profile] elf_muses, [livejournal.com profile] greenknight33, [livejournal.com profile] ssotknapsack, and [livejournal.com profile] linwe_ancalime. As usual, I'm trying not to double-tag or tag people who aren't online much. And if you want to try this meme, consider yourself tagged!

Memory Meme )

[livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive is all about work!

Work, Work, Work, Work, Work.... )

Aaaand, the [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 is a good one too!

What five nitpicky things do you wish writers in your fandom(s) would get right?

*sigh* Since I suspect that this could cause Drama and possibly open Thy Dreaded Can of Wyrms, please note that these are my personal opinions. Which means that you're welcome to disagree (nicely please!) without worrying about knocking the Earth off of Her axis.

Beware! )
I haven't done the Friday memeage in ages. Here is [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive.

In Which Dawn Talks about Pets )

And [livejournal.com profile] fannish5: What five scenes from fanfic (yours or anyone else's) would you like to see illustrated?

Five Scenes )
The Friday memes are sadly deficient this week. [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 didn't even post, [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive was late, and I don't think I saw any memes floating around LJ land this week, unless I'm missing something. So the Friday Five will be all by its lonesome....

1. How do you deal with stress?
2. Do you have a favorite "comfort food" and what is it?
3. Do you have a "comfort activity" and what is it?
4. What days depress you and why?
5. What days excite you and why?

The Lonely Meme )
One of these memes is going around again. Oh, I love these. I really and truly got excited when I first saw it pop up on my flist, and no one needs to tell me how sad that is.

Seen lots of places but directly yoinked from [livejournal.com profile] tarion_anarore.

Name ten different ships from the same fandom. You don't have to like them, hate them, etc. They don't have to be canon either. Without looking ahead or changing them once you start the survey, answer the ten following questions.

  1. Nerdanel/Feanor
  2. Maedhros/Fingon
  3. Maedhros/Finrod *nudges Tarion*
  4. Finarfin/Earwen
  5. Feanor/Erestor
  6. Ecthelion/Glorfindel
  7. Fingolfin/Anaire
  8. Finwe/Miriel
  9. Caranthir/Haleth
  10. Finrod/Turgon
I Love These Memes! 8^B )

[livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive this week is somewhat decent for the first time in a long while. "Decent" meaning questions that I can answer, that do not involve television or super powers, both of which I am scarce on these days.

1. What job do you have, and why do you like/hate it?
2. As a kid, what did you want to be when you "grew up?"
3. Is the job you have now anything like what you imagined as a kid?
4. Do you have a five-year career plan?
5. In order to get the job of your dreams, is there anything you wouldn't do? Why?

My Answers )
I am for once beginning the memeage on Friday. Whatever day this posts, that was the day that I finished. :^P

This was a busy week for memes. Besides my usual memesheep communities, I snagged a couple of intriguing ones from friends.

I will start with this one from [livejournal.com profile] juno_magic. I love this meme; I think it is a beautiful idea. I would really love to see my flisters adopt this one, especially my female flisters (which is nearly all of you). *nudge nudge* Consider it a birthday gift for me. That is all that you have to do for me.

Yoinked directly from Juno, who put it better than I could:
  • Write in the subject line: "I have talents. I have strengths."

  • Make a list with your ten favourite talents or strengths.

  • Never, ever, forget that you are a very special person, with unique strengths and talents.
And if you find it as difficult as I did to make a list of your talents and strengths... think about what is easy for you, what you enjoy doing, and what you know that others hate doing or have problems with...

Oh, and don't give me any crap about not having ten special talents or strengths.

Because I know you do.

I Have Talents. I Have Strengths. )

And I got tagged by [livejournal.com profile] sirielle for a character truth-and-lies meme...or rather, Maedhros did.

Once you've been tagged, you have to write a blog entry with five complete lies about a muse of yours. That is, five things about the muse that are completely not true. Not even slightly. Then add something that is absolutely TRUE and the first person to guess which one is true wins. :) Then tag up to five people you want to turn into compulsive liars too.

Maedhros the Liar.... )

Any Maedhros fans (of Felakverse Maedhros, of course) care to guess which is true?

As for taggage...
[livejournal.com profile] ssotknapsack, I know that you are working on some original stuff, so maybe tag one of your characters? (Even if you never show the results!)
[livejournal.com profile] tarion_anarore, who has been concerning me lately with her productivity. Now, now, you don't want to become a weirdo like that Dawn Felagund. ;) I tag one of your Elf muses, whomever you'd like.
[livejournal.com profile] juno_magic, one of your original characters.
[livejournal.com profile] greenknight33, I tag Klaus Von Uber. Because one day, I will finish the RPG and that guy will have to come back around. ;)
[livejournal.com profile] rhapsody11, Maglor or Celegorm, whoever's chattiest today!

Per usual, if you've been tagged or haven't the time or interest, don't worry about the meme. And if I haven't tagged you (because I'm trying to avoid people that I know have been tagged or are insanely busy at the moment) and you want to do the meme, consider yourself tagged.

And of course, [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive, which is not one of the most inspiring I've seen, but heck, I'll do it.

1. What's your favorite line from a movie, and why?
2. Who's your favorite villain from a movie, and why?
3. Name one movie everyone else loves that you hate.
4. Name one movie everyone else hates that you love.
5. What's your favorite Pixar film, and why?

Baaaaaahhhhhh! )

Have you ever noticed that the Friday Five often has four good/decent questions and one that makes me go, "Huh?" My favorite Pixar movie?? Why not Lion's Gate? Fox Searchlight?? Gah.

Lastly, the [livejournal.com profile] fannish5. This one kind of makes up for the less-than-inspiring Friday Five.

Name five times in canon when everything would have changed if a character had made a different choice.

Pops Open a Can of Worms )
Today is just a beautiful day. Today is a day when a person is happy to be alive.

We had SCUBA training, of course, which has me insanely euphoric. (Swimming helps; endorphins = legal heroin!) We stopped for lunch at Qdoba--or "Adobos," as my f-i-l calls it--and I had a great blond moment. We were sitting and talking about how much of our SCUBA training has been mostly common sense, and I said, "That's why it has to be taught: because most people don't have common sense." Then I went in to get an iced tea refill for the ride home. When Bobby and I eat inhouse at a restaurant, we don't use lids on our drinks to minimize plastic waste. (Yes, I recycle the plastic rings around milk bottles too! *grin*) So I got a lid, proceeded to put it on my drink, and then stuck it under the tea brewer...doh! The cup won't fill with the lid on it. I told Bobby, "Apparently, those common sense lessons in dive training were meant for me!"

Tonight, we are going to see The Illusionist. We saw Little Miss Sunshine on Friday, and I will review it later when I review The Illusionist, but I will say now: See it if you get a chance. It is a fantastic movie, and I do not say that often. At one point, I was laughing and crying at the same time. It follows a dysfunctional family through a rollercoaster of disappointments that only bring them closer, and it is not cheesy. It is freaking hilarious and not in a stupid, slapstick way but in a way that feels like the family might be real, like they might be your own family. Go see it. I will give it a suitably long-winded and raving review later.

Oh, and the Ravens are beating the Fuckaneers Buccaneers 27-0 right now. McNair looks great, Ray Lewis has been awesome, and a rookie nose tackle named Ngata had an interception and run-back that was hilarious. Have you ever seen a defensive lineman run half a football field? The commentator said that he was "rumbling down the field," and that was exactly what it looked like. Bobby and I were both shouting, "Go ahead, Big Guy!" since we didn't then know his name.

I know that I swore to hate the NFL, and I still hate the NFL, but I can't forsake my Ravens. I just can't. So be prepared for some future rants about the NFL and the poor officiation. But I love my Ravens.

Okay, I am behind on memes and stuff, so here is the Friday memeage on...Sunday? Eek. Bad 'gund.

First of all, [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive:

1. If you could pick your own theme song, what would it be?
2. Now be honest...if others had to pick a song that described you, what would they choose?
3. What song would be/was the first dance at your wedding?
4. What song gets stuck in your head most often?
5. What song would you want played at your funeral?

My Answers )

Okay, now for the [livejournal.com profile] fannish5, which isn't one that particularly speaks to me this week. But I'll do it anyway because I'm a meme tool. (It's beyond memesheep, you see.)

What five items owned by characters in your fandom(s) would you most like to own?

Dare I Answer, 'Silmarils?'  )

And finally, I don't even know why I'm embarassing myself with this meme, since I make most of my own icons, and they're pretty terrible. I've still got a lot to learn about Photoshop...and photography too, actually! But I saw this at [livejournal.com profile] juno_magic (and Juno is a fabulous icon-maker, so I put her meme to shame) and think it's kind of neat. And I'm hoping that someone else will adopt this meme because I often look at the icons used by my flist and wonder as to their origins and meanings.

Look at your LJ userpics list.

If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em.

List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly (1) why you have it, (2) why it's interesting to you and (3) what significance it has
.

Dawn's Terrible Icons Explained )
First of all, gakked from [livejournal.com profile] rhapsody11, this one is freakin' hilarious....

dawn_felagund's LJ stalker is digdigil!
digdigil is stalking you because they think you are the one who made anonymous abusive LJ comments. They are also not very liked around here!

Because Jenni is in fact the online person I talk to the most and certainly one of my dearest online friends. And if you don't like Jenni, you have some sort of personality disorder because she's one of the nicest people I know. So this made me laugh.

Okay, now onto Friday memeage. First of all, the original [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive:

1) This is the 1st of September, what do you want to accomplish by the 30th?
2) What does September make you think about or feel?
3) September is the ninth month; can you name nine memories so far from this year?
4) What does September have in common with three other months and can you name them?
5) The first weekend in September signals the end of summer for many even though it doesn’t really end for weeks. When does summer end for you?

'I'll See Yoooou in Septeeeember!!!' *ahem* *coughcough* Okay, I'll stop.... )
And now for the [livejournal.com profile] fannish5:

What five characters have been underutilized in canon?

The Answer Lies within.... )
And since Jenni misses [livejournal.com profile] meryth and [livejournal.com profile] talban and their relentless bickering, Mer will probably do it too in his LJ too. I'm sure Talbie can find something to ridicule about his answers. He'll also be updating his adventures, after his handler...erm...figures out what happens next. *blushes* (She has a fairly good idea, rest assured.)

So here are the questions:

If you knew you were going to die on at specific day at a specific time, what's the last...
1. song you would listen to?
2. book you would read?
3. person you would talk to?
4. food you would eat?
5. goal you would accomplish?

And My Answers! )
Ah...my third post today. I'd forgotten how nice it is to have nothing to do.

Well, nothing pressing, at the moment. I have some beta work I could do (always) and I could write--and I will--but I've wanted to play along with [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive for some time now, so this seems as good a day as any to start.

This week's questions:

1) When does liking someone a lot become loving that person?
2) Is there a job you would do for free, and is it your current job?
3) What is one person/thing that inspired you to take action of some sort?
4) Though you might not believe in it, would you like fate to exist?
5) What's the kindest thing that anyone has ever done for you?

And Dawn Felagund's Answers.... )
