This meme was adapted by [livejournal.com profile] juno_magic and a bunch of other fannish folks here. I am going to modify it a little further. I am assuming that having "done something" in Middle-earth means having written about it, so instead of simply putting what I've done in boldface, I am going to link to the story where I did it. In bold, I will put those things that I hope to still yet do.

What I Have Done in Middle-earth )

Methinks we need one for The Silmarillion too. Anyone have any ideas? >:^)))

Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] pandemonium_213, for the m-word. Can we come up with a better one? ;)

This is a variation of the m-word thingy about first lines of stories. I think the original intention is to post the first line of the first story posted each month. However, I am going to list the first lines of all stories written this year. There is a method behind my madness: I wish to see if I am getting into any annoying habits where first lines are concerned.

The Character Meme ... Everyone Else Is Doing It, Why Shouldn't I? )

Also, from [livejournal.com profile] telperion1, if you want to ask me a question, no matter how silly or embarrassing or serious or incendiary, ask away! This is an Ask Dawn Felagund free-for-all! The only things I won't answer are obvious intrusions on my or someone else's privacy in a way that might be dangerous. So no, I won't hand over my credit card number or Bobby's SSN or anything like that. But I'm open-minded and shameless, so nearly anything else is fair game.

([livejournal.com profile] telperion1, I'm still trying to think of a question for you!)

--tagged, yes! Welcome back to el-jay, Dawn, eh?

The lovely [livejournal.com profile] ladyelleth has tagged me for a Weird Things meme. Funny thing is that I was thinking today that I haven't done a meme in forever and that I would like to do a Weird Things meme because there are plenty of weird things about me to proffer for public amusement. Elleth must have read my mind. (Hopefully, it was longer than a drabble.)

So here's the rules:

Each player of this game starts off with ten weird things or habits or little known facts about yourself himself or herself. People who get tagged must write in a blog of their own ten weird things or habits or little known facts about themselves, as well as these directions. At the end you they must choose six people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks!

(Yes, I just copyedited the meme instructions. Note to self: #11. Copyedits meme instructions.)

Crazy Little Thing Called Dawn )

Well, then, now that I've embarrassed myself and a few beloved family members to boot (sorry, Bobby, Sharon ... Nelyo) then I will tag some people to humiliate themselves participate as well. The usual rules of tagging apply. If I tag you, you don't have to do it, of course. I guarantee that I won't be angry. And if I don't tag you and you want to play along, feel free!

So this meme's victims are ...

[livejournal.com profile] dracoena ... as my newest LJ friend, this is your welcome-to-Dawn's-LJ-let's-humiliate-ourselves-together tag!
[livejournal.com profile] hrymfaxe ... just because. >:^)
[livejournal.com profile] ann_arien ... because I miss you. :(
[livejournal.com profile] ssotknapsack ... so you can get revenge on me by telling your flist lots of embarrassing things that you used to do with your sister Dawn.
[livejournal.com profile] talban ... just to see if Jenni will post in his LJ for him.
[livejournal.com profile] nienna_weeper ... because you always tell the funniest stories and I'd think you could come of with some really good ones for this.

First order of business: gakked from just about everyone,

If you think you know me well enough to respond to this, what warning label would you slap on me before letting me leave the factory house?

Next, what happened to [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive?? Gah. Well, I wanted to do this one two weeks ago but was busy, so...

The Family Five )

And...the [livejournal.com profile] fannish5...

Name five fanfic cliches you secretly (or not-so-secretly) like.

And Fëanor Cried, 'None and none!' )
Firstly, I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] rhapsody11. This one is interesting, I think. Here are the rules:

Below is a series of open-ended statements that you can answer in any way you wish. (Your favorite song at that time, the name of the head of state, the color of your favorite shirt, the name of your school, the name of your crush, a fear or worry you remember, a sport you played or whatever else strikes your fancy.)

You may stop at whatever age you wish, or continue on for hopes for the future if you like. If you've seen more years than are listed here, feel free to add on!

Then, tag four other people you're interested to see memories from.

So whom shall I tag? [livejournal.com profile] tarion_anarore/[livejournal.com profile] elf_muses, [livejournal.com profile] greenknight33, [livejournal.com profile] ssotknapsack, and [livejournal.com profile] linwe_ancalime. As usual, I'm trying not to double-tag or tag people who aren't online much. And if you want to try this meme, consider yourself tagged!

Memory Meme )

[livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive is all about work!

Work, Work, Work, Work, Work.... )

Aaaand, the [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 is a good one too!

What five nitpicky things do you wish writers in your fandom(s) would get right?

*sigh* Since I suspect that this could cause Drama and possibly open Thy Dreaded Can of Wyrms, please note that these are my personal opinions. Which means that you're welcome to disagree (nicely please!) without worrying about knocking the Earth off of Her axis.

Beware! )
I haven't done the Friday memeage in ages. Here is [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive.

In Which Dawn Talks about Pets )

And [livejournal.com profile] fannish5: What five scenes from fanfic (yours or anyone else's) would you like to see illustrated?

Five Scenes )
The usual array of weekly memes that I'm supposed to do on Friday yet always end up posted on Sunday. Oh well.

A list of random questions, yoinked from [livejournal.com profile] pulsarkat and my lovely sister-in-law [livejournal.com profile] linwe_ancalime.

Some Rather Random Things about Dawn )

The [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 seems to have gone the way of the dodo bird. However, the always industrious [livejournal.com profile] vana_tuivana found a Fannish Four to serve in its stead:

The Fannish Four )

This week's [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive has to do with food. Again. *sigh* Alas, I am bored enough to do it.

The Foodish Friday Five )

The Friday memes are sadly deficient this week. [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 didn't even post, [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive was late, and I don't think I saw any memes floating around LJ land this week, unless I'm missing something. So the Friday Five will be all by its lonesome....

1. How do you deal with stress?
2. Do you have a favorite "comfort food" and what is it?
3. Do you have a "comfort activity" and what is it?
4. What days depress you and why?
5. What days excite you and why?

The Lonely Meme )
One of these memes is going around again. Oh, I love these. I really and truly got excited when I first saw it pop up on my flist, and no one needs to tell me how sad that is.

Seen lots of places but directly yoinked from [livejournal.com profile] tarion_anarore.

Name ten different ships from the same fandom. You don't have to like them, hate them, etc. They don't have to be canon either. Without looking ahead or changing them once you start the survey, answer the ten following questions.

  1. Nerdanel/Feanor
  2. Maedhros/Fingon
  3. Maedhros/Finrod *nudges Tarion*
  4. Finarfin/Earwen
  5. Feanor/Erestor
  6. Ecthelion/Glorfindel
  7. Fingolfin/Anaire
  8. Finwe/Miriel
  9. Caranthir/Haleth
  10. Finrod/Turgon
I Love These Memes! 8^B )

[livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive this week is somewhat decent for the first time in a long while. "Decent" meaning questions that I can answer, that do not involve television or super powers, both of which I am scarce on these days.

1. What job do you have, and why do you like/hate it?
2. As a kid, what did you want to be when you "grew up?"
3. Is the job you have now anything like what you imagined as a kid?
4. Do you have a five-year career plan?
5. In order to get the job of your dreams, is there anything you wouldn't do? Why?

Since I had to return my rental gear to the dive shop today, I photographed it all per the request of [livejournal.com profile] ladyelleth. The others are on their way within the next few days!

Taking the lead from [livejournal.com profile] sirielle, I have Photoshopped in comments indicating what you're looking at (since dive gear can look pretty mysterious to a non-diver) and explaining what's what for anyone who is interested. The only thing I couldn't photograph were the air tanks, which we returned yesterday. But that's one of the more boring items anyway.

Oh, and if you see strange numbers painted on the stuff...it's rental equipment! The wetsuits, BCD, gloves, hood, and regulator are all rental gear.

Photo Meme--My Diving Equipment )
Firstly, the [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 is a goody!

Name five fanfic cliches you hate.

In order to avoid hurting feelings and causing drama (both of which y'all know that I despise), I would like to ask my that my replies be taken more as "Name five fanfic cliches that I generally find overdone and not particularly written to my tastes." I am sure--in fact I know--that there are excellent representations of all of these things but, most often, I find that they do not particularly suit me.

Fannish Five--Fandom Cliches )

Next, initially seen at [livejournal.com profile] juno_magic and since copied elsewhere: the stupid things meme!

Stupid Things that I've Done )

Seen at [livejournal.com profile] rhapsody11 and [livejournal.com profile] pulsarkat: My life soundtrack.

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend your cool...

This could be embarassing, but here goes!

My Life Soundtrack )
Because interactive memes are fun!

The first has been going around for a while. I first saw it at [livejournal.com profile] nienna_weeper but it has since been adopted by lots of others, and I was poked into doing it by [livejournal.com profile] sirielle:

Tell me something that you would like me to take a picture of and I will take the picture that you request and post it in my LiveJournal.

Obviously, some things are right out, but that should make sense to most people. And challenging requests are more than welcome!

The second meme was one that was done last summer, but it is great fun, and as we get ready to start NaNoWriMo and other such ambitious fiction projects, now seems as good a time as any to bring it back.

Ask any of my characters a question (or several!) I guarantee you that the character will answer you honestly.

Some Dawn-specific caveats:

  • Fanfic and original characters are all fair game, even if the original story is locked. Midhavens characters are fair game too, even if they haven't appeared in an actual story yet.

  • If you have a character from a particular story or verse in mind, please be specific. Otherwise, you're going to get plain ol' Felakverse, so if you want By the Light of Roses Feanor, for example, please let me know this. Otherwise, he's going to look at you oddly when you ask him what part of Erestor is most kissable.

  • Post this in your LJ and I will ask your characters or muses some questions!

And have fun! :)

In other words, I got tagged three times by my dear [livejournal.com profile] tarion_anarore!

Well, really, she tagged me once for Finrod. I said, "Well, I have two Finrods so they'll each do it." Then I told her that the meme was fun, so she tagged me again for Caranthir.

So here goes. For those of you who have not seen this meme yet, here are the rules:

Once you've been tagged, you have to write a blog entry with five complete lies about a muse of yours. That is, five things about the muse that are completely not true. Not even slightly. Then add something that is absolutely TRUE and the first person to guess which one is true wins. :) Then tag up to five people you want to turn into compulsive liars too.

Finrod--the *real* one )

Finrod--the *naughty* one )

Caranthir the Dark )

Anyone who manages to guess all three correctly will get a prize. I would offer a story, but I am so behind on gift/prize stories already. *sigh* Still, I'll probably offer a story, it'll just take months for me to get around to doing it.

And then, of course, there are tags:

[livejournal.com profile] greenknight33, I am still waiting for an answer from Klaus.... *nudgenudgenudge*
[livejournal.com profile] arandil13, if you can come out and play, maybe Feanor is talking to you?
[livejournal.com profile] isil_elensar, I'd love to hear from your Amrod.... *winkwink*
[livejournal.com profile] noliel, you get a welcome-to-my-LJ tag: I'd love to hear from your favorite character! :)
[livejournal.com profile] atanwende, Haleth or Caranthir, your choice!

Per usual, you don't have to play if you don't want to. And if you'd like to play, consider yourself tagged!

Well, imho, [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive is crap again. As I told Bobby--sometime while ranting about this to him this afternoon--it is a sad day in a woman's life when she can spend five minutes complaining about [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive. Meh.

I don't watch TV (five hours in a month is a lot for me), so it is rather useless to write about TV. Honestly, our digital cable box has been busted for a month and a half now, and neither of us have really noticed. We still get network channels, so we get Ravens games. And YouTube is (mostly) useless to me since my computer doesn't have sound.

Meh.

Luckily for me, [livejournal.com profile] pulsarkat came to my rescue by posting a few interesting memes to restore the Friday memeage. Because I do love the Friday memeage. Nothing says "weekend" like wasting a couple of hours on completely pointless questions.

This one was seen just about everywhere, but I was poked into doing it by [livejournal.com profile] pulsarkat....

Loooong Random Meme )

LJ Habits! )

I am for once beginning the memeage on Friday. Whatever day this posts, that was the day that I finished. :^P

This was a busy week for memes. Besides my usual memesheep communities, I snagged a couple of intriguing ones from friends.

I will start with this one from [livejournal.com profile] juno_magic. I love this meme; I think it is a beautiful idea. I would really love to see my flisters adopt this one, especially my female flisters (which is nearly all of you). *nudge nudge* Consider it a birthday gift for me. That is all that you have to do for me.

Yoinked directly from Juno, who put it better than I could:
  • Write in the subject line: "I have talents. I have strengths."

  • Make a list with your ten favourite talents or strengths.

  • Never, ever, forget that you are a very special person, with unique strengths and talents.
And if you find it as difficult as I did to make a list of your talents and strengths... think about what is easy for you, what you enjoy doing, and what you know that others hate doing or have problems with...

Oh, and don't give me any crap about not having ten special talents or strengths.

Because I know you do.

I Have Talents. I Have Strengths. )

And I got tagged by [livejournal.com profile] sirielle for a character truth-and-lies meme...or rather, Maedhros did.

Maedhros the Liar.... )

Any Maedhros fans (of Felakverse Maedhros, of course) care to guess which is true?

As for taggage...
[livejournal.com profile] ssotknapsack, I know that you are working on some original stuff, so maybe tag one of your characters? (Even if you never show the results!)
[livejournal.com profile] tarion_anarore, who has been concerning me lately with her productivity. Now, now, you don't want to become a weirdo like that Dawn Felagund. ;) I tag one of your Elf muses, whomever you'd like.
[livejournal.com profile] juno_magic, one of your original characters.
[livejournal.com profile] greenknight33, I tag Klaus Von Uber. Because one day, I will finish the RPG and that guy will have to come back around. ;)
[livejournal.com profile] rhapsody11, Maglor or Celegorm, whoever's chattiest today!

Per usual, if you've been tagged or haven't the time or interest, don't worry about the meme. And if I haven't tagged you (because I'm trying to avoid people that I know have been tagged or are insanely busy at the moment) and you want to do the meme, consider yourself tagged.

And of course, [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive, which is not one of the most inspiring I've seen, but heck, I'll do it.

1. What's your favorite line from a movie, and why?
2. Who's your favorite villain from a movie, and why?
3. Name one movie everyone else loves that you hate.
4. Name one movie everyone else hates that you love.
5. What's your favorite Pixar film, and why?

Baaaaaahhhhhh! )

Have you ever noticed that the Friday Five often has four good/decent questions and one that makes me go, "Huh?" My favorite Pixar movie?? Why not Lion's Gate? Fox Searchlight?? Gah.

Lastly, the [livejournal.com profile] fannish5. This one kind of makes up for the less-than-inspiring Friday Five.

Name five times in canon when everything would have changed if a character had made a different choice.

Pops Open a Can of Worms )
Today is just a beautiful day. Today is a day when a person is happy to be alive.

We had SCUBA training, of course, which has me insanely euphoric. (Swimming helps; endorphins = legal heroin!) We stopped for lunch at Qdoba--or "Adobos," as my f-i-l calls it--and I had a great blond moment. We were sitting and talking about how much of our SCUBA training has been mostly common sense, and I said, "That's why it has to be taught: because most people don't have common sense." Then I went in to get an iced tea refill for the ride home. When Bobby and I eat inhouse at a restaurant, we don't use lids on our drinks to minimize plastic waste. (Yes, I recycle the plastic rings around milk bottles too! *grin*) So I got a lid, proceeded to put it on my drink, and then stuck it under the tea brewer...doh! The cup won't fill with the lid on it. I told Bobby, "Apparently, those common sense lessons in dive training were meant for me!"

Tonight, we are going to see The Illusionist. We saw Little Miss Sunshine on Friday, and I will review it later when I review The Illusionist, but I will say now: See it if you get a chance. It is a fantastic movie, and I do not say that often. At one point, I was laughing and crying at the same time. It follows a dysfunctional family through a rollercoaster of disappointments that only bring them closer, and it is not cheesy. It is freaking hilarious and not in a stupid, slapstick way but in a way that feels like the family might be real, like they might be your own family. Go see it. I will give it a suitably long-winded and raving review later.

Oh, and the Ravens are beating the Fuckaneers Buccaneers 27-0 right now. McNair looks great, Ray Lewis has been awesome, and a rookie nose tackle named Ngata had an interception and run-back that was hilarious. Have you ever seen a defensive lineman run half a football field? The commentator said that he was "rumbling down the field," and that was exactly what it looked like. Bobby and I were both shouting, "Go ahead, Big Guy!" since we didn't then know his name.

I know that I swore to hate the NFL, and I still hate the NFL, but I can't forsake my Ravens. I just can't. So be prepared for some future rants about the NFL and the poor officiation. But I love my Ravens.

Okay, I am behind on memes and stuff, so here is the Friday memeage on...Sunday? Eek. Bad 'gund.

First of all, [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive:

1. If you could pick your own theme song, what would it be?
2. Now be honest...if others had to pick a song that described you, what would they choose?
3. What song would be/was the first dance at your wedding?
4. What song gets stuck in your head most often?
5. What song would you want played at your funeral?

My Answers )

Okay, now for the [livejournal.com profile] fannish5, which isn't one that particularly speaks to me this week. But I'll do it anyway because I'm a meme tool. (It's beyond memesheep, you see.)

What five items owned by characters in your fandom(s) would you most like to own?

Dare I Answer, 'Silmarils?'  )

And finally, I don't even know why I'm embarassing myself with this meme, since I make most of my own icons, and they're pretty terrible. I've still got a lot to learn about Photoshop...and photography too, actually! But I saw this at [livejournal.com profile] juno_magic (and Juno is a fabulous icon-maker, so I put her meme to shame) and think it's kind of neat. And I'm hoping that someone else will adopt this meme because I often look at the icons used by my flist and wonder as to their origins and meanings.

Look at your LJ userpics list.

If you have fewer than 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five icons, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em.

List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly (1) why you have it, (2) why it's interesting to you and (3) what significance it has
.

Okay, now onto Friday memeage. First of all, the original [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive:

1) This is the 1st of September, what do you want to accomplish by the 30th?
2) What does September make you think about or feel?
3) September is the ninth month; can you name nine memories so far from this year?
4) What does September have in common with three other months and can you name them?
5) The first weekend in September signals the end of summer for many even though it doesn’t really end for weeks. When does summer end for you?

'I'll See Yoooou in Septeeeember!!!' *ahem* *coughcough* Okay, I'll stop.... )
And now for the [livejournal.com profile] fannish5:

What five characters have been underutilized in canon?

The Answer Lies within.... )
